  1. Hey All, Just wanted to get your thoughts. the circled fish has been with me for 3 weeks now as has the other 5 congo tetras. he is much smaller than the others. Leading me to believe he has wasting disease or some other parasitic infection. Should I treat all of them or just the little guy?
  2. @EricksonAquatics It is 2 electric blue acara. The schooling fish you saw is the Congo tetra's x6. I also have 3 amano shrimp in there. I need more but i need some of my smaller ones from the 20 to grow up so not to get eaten. I'm also in the market for Geophagus Sveni, i'm planning on getting at least 2.
  3. @Tanked Ideally I would make adjustments though I worry about increasing the speed of the AC 110 and the affect it would have on the fish. I would hate for them to get blown around.
  4. @Tanked I didn't even think about getting rid of the extension. I'll try that. I don't think that increasing the wavemaker would help, I think the wavemaker is causing the debris to not get pulled in to the filter because they are positioned on the same wall. At this point I think its try your solution of removing the extension and if that doesn't work I would go with the canister route since it will allow me to position the intake and output in a more optimal fashion.
  5. Stock wise the AC 110 is plenty yeah but the issue is you can't move the intake or output of the HOB. The current flow is in a circular fashion from right to left. With a HOB i can't move the intake to the correct location without moving the output. Not sure where I would move the wavemaker to fix the deadspot issue?
  6. Hello All, I was just hoping to get some thoughts on some flow issues I have. I'm considering switching my filter from an Aquaclear 110 to a Sicce whale 350 canister for my 75 gal. As you can see in the pictures, with the AC 110 + my wavemaker all the food and debris gets collected to a dead spot rather than my filters intake. The intake almost needs to be on the back wall rather than the side wall that I have it now. This would allow the debris to get pushed to the intake right where that deadspot is rather than several inches away from the intake. Please share your thoughts on a possible fix. the wave maker is set as low as it will go and the AC 110 is set to the mid point as to not blow around the younger fish.
  7. Hey All, This is my first time keeping Electric Blue Acara. I got mine from Aqua Huna, does coloring come in as they get older? Mine are more of a silver body and white / light gray head. Rather than the typical dark gray head and metallic blue body. The smaller one in the pic of the whole 75 gal tank looks like it is still developing its dorsal fin as it doesn't have the orange stripe that the bigger one has. If it's not developmental I would need to start consider lighting or stress perhaps.
  8. This is an old post so i doubt this will show up but I also experience this with my 2 weeks of owning two 1 inch ish EBA. Also their bodies are more light blue silver than dark and electric blue. Genetic? Stress from being moved? or Lighting?
  9. Hello All, This might seem like a dumb question but is the suction strength of a HOB filter proportional to how fast you are running it? I have an Aquaclear 110 on my 75 Gal and run it on the lowest setting. I just added a wavemaker (Xstream SDC) to replace my air stone bubbler. I run the wave maker as low as it can go (5% box says that's 270 gph) but it seems like a lot of the stuff in the tank gets pushed away from the HOB inlet by the wavemaker even though its aimed at the surface and running on its lowest setting. This tank is newley set up, please forgive the cloudiness from the sand.
  10. @mynameisnobody 4. Also, 2 electric blue acara and 5 congo tetra's. its a 75 gal.
  11. Hello All, Just wanted to get some opinions on how much sand is needed for Geophagus Sveni. Currently the tank has about 2 inches, just not sure if I need to increase this to 3? Thank you, Ryan.
  12. @TOtrees Preferably an adjustable heater. The current heater is a 300w meant for 65-90 gallons. the current room temp is 75. I mean its possible that I have received 2 bad ones but I don't know how likely that is and if so it brings into question Sicce's quality control. Prior to this in my 20gal I had the Aquarium co op heater but they no longer sell that. I wish they did, never had an issue with it and it maintains a constant temp.
  13. Hello All, I could use some heater recommendations. I have tried 2 different Sicce 300w scuba contactless heaters. both seem to have issues with the temperature sensor and they constantly over heat. What would you recommend for a 75 gal tank?
  14. @AllFishNoBrakes Honestly I think its a bad batch since I just tried it on the smaller 20gal that i've had for 3 years and no color change there. the 0 (safe) on the bottle is a slight green from the base yellow pad.
  15. @AllFishNoBrakes No, not really. just squeezed the old tanks pre filter sponge out into it and added some easy green for the plants.
  16. Hey Everyone, I bought the aquarium co op test strips but it seems like there is never a color change. This is a new aquarium which has been running for about a week and it was pre seeded (very little) from my smaller older tank. I was expecting some ammonia to show up or some color change on the test strip? Are these strips accurate? Below is the current status of the tank, all plants were planted today. The cloudy ness could be from the crushed coral but i'm not entirely sure on that.
  17. So I just wanted to get some peoples thoughts. I purchased the 400w of the above water heater which many youtubers gave glowing reviews. So far i'm not impressed and really miss the co-op heater. Now all of the frustrations could be my specific phones NFC but I question that design anyway. This water heater boasts "contactless" NFC technology, BUT if I want to use the heater I have to essentially touch my phone to the heater, and not just once for set up but any time you login. Oh, you want to change your temperature? You have to scan it a second time to confirm the temperature change. I don't understand why they went this route or why people were so excited about this, making a Bluetooth control heater with the functionality of say the fluval 3.0 would of been a better way to go. Is anyone else experiencing these issues?
  18. @Whitecloud09 got it, thank you @Colu before i do the epsom salt is that safe for hillstream loaches and amano shrimp as well?
  19. @Colu thanks for the reply. just for clarification 1tbs for 10 gallons, added to the main tank? or should I dose in a separate container for 15 mins then move back to the main tank? If its in the main tank do you mean to dose once and let sit for 5 days? or dose ever day for 5 days?
  20. Hey All, Came home to this little guy having issues swimming. swollen belly. total of 3 pea puffers in the tank plus 5 glow tetras. Water parameters are fine, slightly low on nitrate 25ppm. Thoughts on issue and cure?
  21. @AllFishNoBrakes How did you attach the poster board? and where did you get it from just any craft store?
  22. Hey Everyone, Just wanted to get your opinion on this. I'm building a new 75 gallon tank which will be placed in the main living room with a window behind it (blinds closed). Should I put a black background on the back part of the tank to block out any residual UV light? If so, what would be the best product? Thank you, Ryan
