Munkyaquatix
Hi everyone hope all is well. So my question is I recently had to pull up my Amazon sword and I noticed the tips of the roots were black . Is trimming aquatic plant roots a thing?? Jungle Fan
I usually only trim the roots of my plants when I first get them, or when I have to replant them to encourage new growth. When you say they were black, were they just lightly discolored from the substrate, or were they brownish black and soft. Lightly discolored is normal, brownish black and soft could be an indicator of either a nutrient deficiency, or possibly anaerobic rotting of roots from stem plants where the plant got pulled and the root broke off in the soil and they began to rot and are affecting your sword plant. Kind of hard to tell without pictures, and knowing if the roots were hard or soft.
