Guppy tank

I am interested setting up a 125 gallon guppy tank. I am wondering if it would be beneficial to invest in 5 or 6 high quality show guppy triplets.  I plan on just putting them in the tank and letting them do their thing. Was wondering if I could get some real pretty cappy's this way or if they would just all blend and give me basic fancy guppies.

I think you'd probably be better off with twelve 10g tanks, honestly. Breeding for show, for any animal, means breeding judiciously to a set standard. That means controlling who breeds with whom, and when, and being able to take careful notes about the broods and which you're keeping and who their parents and grandparents were so you get enough genetic diversity.

Me, I'm all for filling a 125 gallon with hundreds of the most beautiful guppies you can find and just enjoying the show. But if you want to get into showing them, that's practically a whole different hobby.
