ierickson21
I read somewhere online that to lower the pH in a tank you could add distilled vinegar. While trying this out in a bucket of water, I found that it lowered the pH depending on how much I put in. If I did this in my aquarium, will it kill the beneficial bacteria? I can’t seem to find any information online other than that this will lower the pH. The water I use for water changes has no chlorine but a very high pH level
Administrators Cory Posted February 17, 2021 Administrators Share Posted February 17, 2021 I believe it only kills bacteria if the pH gets too low. Diluting it into water like that, as long as you don't poor it into the filter, should be ok. That being said I haven't done this but I have heard of others doing it. I prefer to let plants and bacteria acidify the water over time.
