Fauxrenier
I had a question about getting a color out of shrimp. About a month ago I found some shrimplets I must have missed in my blue dreams I’d got 2 weeks prior. Maybe some eggs I didn’t see that were about to hatch. Well I noticed 3 of them have patches of black on them. I was wondering if it’s possible to breed that into an entirely black shrimp down the line? I’ve already separated them just in case. FrozenFins
I am sure it would be possible. Just like you can breed regular koi angelfish to red koi angelfish or a black ram to a black midnight ram. I doubt they would breed entriley black for a few more years. There is such thing as the black shrimp, would be cool to see what would happend. And if you do decide to get the blacks out of your blue dream shrimp I would encourage you to make a thread of the process, could be very helpful to other forum members.
Fauxrenier
Thanks for the thoughts. Yeah, I figured it might take a while considering gestation and maturity. It would be a fun experiment.
JettsPapa
It's probably possible. I have some in my blue neo tank that appear black to me. I was culling them for being too dark until the guy who evaluates shrimp at the store where I sell my excess said to stop. 1
