Rita
Hey all, I bought this wave pump from the co op for my 20 gal long and it does a great job circulating the water, but I’m afraid it does too good of a job. My poor ember tetras were swimming in one spot against the current constantly while I tested it today. Is there any way to stifle the flow a little bit? FrozenFins
I would wrap a sponge over the intake and see if that helps.
Streetwise
I started in the planted tank hobby with some spare gear from my marine days. I tried using a few of of those and they were just too powerful. Maybe you could save them for a circular-flow Hillstream Loach tank. Your Ember Tetras would prefer the flow of a Nano Sponge Filter or two. Edited January 17, 2021 by Streetwise 1

An air driven sponge filter would make them much happier. I use that that same pump in a 20long saltwater coral frag tank with no fish in it.

kwyjibo
i also have found the 240 to be pretty overkill in a 20 tall. i am considering cutting out a restrictior plate out of a pringles lid or some such. He anybody else found a good way to slow these down?
