FannieSmith
I have a 75 gallon aquarium would it be okay to put a sponge filter on my intake of my Penn-Plax Cascade Aquarium Canister Filter, 100-gal or Will it damage my motor
MickS77
Are you thinking about using a Pre-Filter Sponge or attaching a Sponge Filter to the filer intake tube? Either option won't damage the motor. The large pores of the sponge allow significant water flow for proper filter operation.
Redhead
so, in looking at the inline sponges and the pre filter sponge i had a question. do i need to use a water filter with the prefilter sponge AND the inline sponge or do i just make a choice and thats it. I have a 20 gallon that i just stated and its still cycling with the side filter.

If so, I think it comes down to your preference. Some people would prefer to do both, do maximize the bio media opportunities and protect tiny fry from being accidentally sucked in. Some do one or the other. You can always change your mind. 🙂 Edited August 6, 2020 by Bill Smith
