Kilrkitty08
Hidy Everyone! I currently have two African Leaf Fish, and I absolutely love them. I have been debating on purchasing an 180gl long, custom acrylic aquarium and maybe setting up a breeding project for this fish (getting more of them of course). I would love any tips from anyone on the best method for breeding and the easiest way to sex them young, if it is possible. I have been told captive breeding is possible and even easy but I haven't gotten any details. Any information would be greatly appreciated or even if you just want to share cute Leaf Fish Pictures I'd love that too! 😄 Holli (Kilrkitty08)
Fish Folk
Assuming that the fish you've got are Ctenopoma acutirostre (African Leopard Bush Fish), and not Polycentropsis abbreviata (African Leaf Fish) . . . Here is a webpage with information on breeding: https://www.fishkeeper.co.uk/fish/freshwater/anabantids/spotted-climbing-perch- Details on sexing them can be read here: https://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/ctenopoma-acutirostre/ You'll need to raise them up to full maturity first, and of course you'll need to have a confirmed pair.
