Balouchimom
This is one of our female guppies. We've had her for several months and she's has had fry twice. She has been healthy up until 2 days ago when I noticed her hanging around the heater. She was eating, but has stopped now. She used to have a pale tan body and light purple tale; which now has a very light red/dark pink hue. She is also lethargic. All other fish seem fine, but we did have another female die suddenly a week ago, which I thought was caused by complications of delivery bc she showed no signs of illness, her abdomen was very swollen and there were a few new fry. I tested the water, zero ammonia all other parameters are within normal range. I just did a water change after the previous female guppy died (~1 week ago). Any help would be appreciated.
Fish Folk
Looks like something parasitic internal. Has she had white stringy poop? These situations are always sad. In an ideal world, quarantine tank with meds. Be advised . . . the results are not guaranteed, especially if a fish is too far gone before meds even begin. You do want to consider the possibility that there is a health issue in the aquarium itself.
Balouchimom
Thank you for the reply. I was thinking the same thing. Yes, she does, but she also hasn't eaten in the last 24 hrs. I've never had a fish with a parasite. I actually thought about euthanasia, just bc it appears painful and she looks miserable. I added aquarium salt and raised the temperaturea little, but have nothing else to isolate her, treat it with, or know what is the best course of treatment to purchase when I get to the store. Any suggestions on that would be helpful. It's my daughters tank and she's worked really hard to making sure the fish are cared for. We had no deaths for 8 months until the last week. Matt B
I know this is a late response. I've had great results with these products..
Balouchimom
Thank you for comment. I did purchase the paracleanse, but it was too late. I watched the other fish for signs if infection and have seen nothing so far, so I have not used it. I fed them live Daphnia, not realizing they can be hosts to parasites. So im not sure if that is what happened, but i will continue to keepnan eye on them and have these treatments, just in case. Thank you again
