bela
Hello. I am looking for suggestions for a filter for a 40 gallon breeder. No water can flow outside the tank and back so no canister, hob, etc are allowed by wife. Sponge, undergravel, internal (please recommend brand/model)...? Thanks very much in advance
Galabar
Sicce Shark ADV. I've got two of them on a 40 breeder.
mynameisnobody
If those were my options, I’d go sponge filter, simply for the fairly cheap price tag even with an air pump. 2
JettsPapa
Two or three sponge filters spread out along the back of the tank should be fine. I like to keep things simple.
Ben P.
I'm gonna be the one to throw out the odd idea here.... I just put a matten filter in a 20 long and love it. I use a small power head as opposed to a air lift. On a 40 breeder use a corner matten filter and you can also hide your heater behind there as well
Zeaqua
Personally, I’d go sponge filter. The co’op’s are great, but if you’re particular about getting tiny particles out, there are fine ones on Amazon. For a 40, I’d recommend either 2 mediums or 1 large.
Ben P.
@bela also what you're going to stock it with matters a lot
