Panda cory injury

I noticed my pre-filter sponge had fallen off. I went to pick it up and discovered a panda cory picked the wrong cave to go into and couldn't get out. He was caught in the opening part. I helped it out but noticed some tattering on his fins, likely from being in there and struggling.

Here is how he looked right away:

I decided to keep him in rather than move him and keep an eye on him. Roughly 9 hours later I noticed he had developed some red areas on his fins and now looks like this:

I'm debating putting him in a hospital tank with salt and maybe some meds or will that just add too much stress from being moved plus being alone?  Is it needed?  If so, what meds? Bacterial I assume?

It's more than likely some soft tissue damage I would just monitor for now it should get better on it own given time give an update if you think it's getting worse over the next couple of days

Poor guy is probably stressed out too. I always defer to Colu on treatment, but if you did treat I think something like Maracyn and salt would help.

Is he eating? Some frozen bloodworms could help him build back up again. If he's not eating he might need that hospital tank. Good luck 👍

It's kinds hard to tell if they are eating since cories tend to graze more than eat when fed but I haven't seen him eating. That doesn't necessarily mean he isn't eating though.

I was anxious and did end up moving him. I put in salt at 1 tsp per 2 gallons and a dose of kanaplex. If anything, this will help me monitor him more. The tank is also barebottom and was recently wiped down so less of a chance for infection if those are open wounds.

I did end up putting him in a hospital tank with aquarium salt at 1 tsp per 2 gallons and kanaplex. Tomorrow is the 3rd dose of kanaplex. Today I noticed he looks worse. He's acting like other cories act that I've seen when they are in pain. His dorsal looks worse. The tattered parts of his tail are also off. Part of me wonders if both the dorsal and tail is just the dead parts falling off before the new part grows in but idk. Another thing is his mask and eye area look strange. It almost looks like a bruise. Idk if fish bruise the same way we do.

Here's a video showing the dorsal part swaying and a pic of him along with it zoomed in on the mask/eye.

Everything am seeing is the result of the injury it sustained it's causing some inflammation near the eye that could be dead or damage tissue falling of his fins if there's any secondary bacterial infections the kanaplex and salt should deal with that @Cinnebuns

Ty. I wanted to make sure I was on the right track!

Overall he seems to be doing slightly better. His color is looking more normal all around and he doesn't seem to act in pain as much.

Yesterday I did notice 1 thing. There's these 2 bubbles that formed on the top. I wish I got a better picture but after this he ran away on me. I can maybe try to get a better one in the morning.
