Brian - Advanced Aquarium
Hi Everyone, is there anyone out there keeping these awesome fish? i have some guppies in a 20 gallon and a 9” African arowana in a 110 planted (grow out for a few more months) they are a filter feeder so i’m wondering if i can keep guppies with them. I know it could eat the babies but that’s not a totally bad thing in my opinion. hopefully someone has mixed these before. have a great day! mynameisnobody
If I was a betting man, I’d have my money on the African Aro being the lone fish in the tank, all it takes is time. They are fairly boisterous and a 9” will prob see guppies as feeders. They filter feed when they are small. As they grow, anything that fits in its mouth will end up there. Biotope Biologist
African arowana now there is something you hear rarely. They will eat all your guppies without a doubt in my mind as adults. If you’re culturing the guppies as a food source you can for sure mix them. I assume anyone keeping one of these knows exactly what they signed up for so I will leave it at that. Good luck! Brian - Advanced Aquarium
Thank you very much for the advice!! The African arowana will be moving on once it’s big enough for the 300 then the 2000. I will just keep it with the other grow outs and move the guppies over after. mynameisnobody
@Brian - Advanced Aquarium Good luck and photos, I’d love to see that setup. I love monster fish, but it can be frustrating if you don’t have the space for the proper sized aquarium. Enjoy!
