Variatus platty breeding

I will be buying a 5 pack of high fin blue coral variatus platties. Do I remember correctly, the tank doesn’t need heat? Room temps of 66-72 degrees will be fine.

That's a nice looking fish! Good luck with yours. I kept all my platies in unheated tanks this summer with the AC in my home set between 68 at night and 74 in the daytime, and all did well. I put heaters back in a week or so ago because it's getting cold here and don't want to keep them at 65 which is the temp in the house at night.

I keep my house at 65 all winter long. I live as far north and east in Wisconsin as you can get. I will keep the tank at around 70.

@TomOthat’ll work. Crushed coral substrate, some plants for cover (even better float a pond planter for the fry to hide in) and you’ve  got yourself a play factory.

temperture should be fine, beautiful fish too, just a warning platies can take over a tank if they reproduce enough...
