Rory Waliser
About a month ago I set up a small tank and cycled it to use if I ever needed to quarantine a fish. I am wondering if, since it is sitting empty with no load on the bio filter, I need to be adding some source of ammonia to it periodically i.e. fish food or cycling ammonia. Does it need this to keep the beneficial bacteria alive and effective or is it okay leaving it sit the way it is?
Fishkeeper125
I "feed" my quarantine tank with fish food, so my beneficial bacteria doesn't starve.
Rory Waliser
See that’s what I was thinking I should be doing but I didn’t know if it was necessary or not. It’s weird feeding something you can’t see lol
