This is Disco. My wife and I have fallen in love with him. He is getting these sores next to his gills. I assumed it was an injury at first and then thought flutes. I have used Med trio and it seems to heal it up but it just continues to come back. Poor guy has been on meds for a couple of weeks now on and off and Med trio isn’t working. Please help my wife and I would be devastated if I can’t figure out how to treat it. Thanks  ph is 7.5, temp is 80, 0amonia, 0nitrite,

ps. I did follow up with the wormer. 9EB54D18-CFB1-4A78-A836-A2B3BA73432F.jpeg.baf19a99d599941f81915d5e0411d16b.jpegA3B94F24-C515-4691-8D4E-8B319C833FEA.jpeg.7bda5de9dfb9711afb832c85df942707.jpeg9EB54D18-CFB1-4A78-A836-A2B3BA73432F.jpeg.baf19a99d599941f81915d5e0411d16b.jpeg

I might need a more clear photo I can not really tell where the sores are. Do you mind circling the area.

Looks like it could be an injury caused by rubbing on something in the tank is there anything in the tanks such as rocks or wood   which is causing the injury

I honestly don’t think so because it is inside of the fin and the fins don’t get hurt

Flowerhorns aren't exactly known for their resilience to diseases, it could be hole-in-the-head?

Welcome to the forum btw!

It’s not on the head and it heals and goes away

another possibilities is a viral infection that would explain why it keeps coming back  or some type of cyst what you can do is a course of maracyn2 in food as the active ingredient minocycline has proven effective at shrinking some types of lumps and a small amount of aquarium salt 1 table for 5 gallon IMG_20220714_201455.jpg.061baa048e2f198b7299e781b41671d9.jpg

looks like a cyst follow the instructions @Colu has.

It isn’t a cyst or tumor it spreads if left alone. Something in Med trio heals it but it comes back.

I don’t think so because it will spread if not treated.

Also there is nothing in the tank besides plants and one little flat piece of drift wood.

Here is Discos tank. Not much to continuously get hurt on. These sores are behind the side fin. The fins to this point have remained intact. It is some type of lice, or parasite, infection, etc that Med trio seems to help but does not prevent it from coming back0EC574AC-6CC3-4EDB-B9D2-99E3EFFB59C5.jpeg.cbb2c0063c97260bbfd224ded1f4d023.jpeg

Use one table spoon of pellets add a quarter of a packet of maracyn2 one scoop of seachems focus that binds the medication to the food add a few drops of water one cap of seachems garlic guard that makes the medicated food more appetizing mix it well then you can feed a Small amount twice a day for 7 days storing any leftover food in the fridge maracyn2 will also cover against any possible bacteria infection
