HOB Filter Thoughts

Currently running a aqua clear 30 for my 20 gal tank. I’m looking to startup a 10 gal within a few days. Would it be dumb to have another HOB filter on the existing 20 gal to begin building some bacteria in the ceramic rings while I get everything for the 10 gal? Do you think it will shorten the tankless cycle?

That's how I set up every new filter. I'll generally take some media from the old filter and put it at the bottom of the new media in the new filter and let the bacteria colonize from there.

it definitely will decrease the cycle time it could even eliminate it entirely.

Not at all! Absolutely do that, it will help a lot with your cycle. I will usually throw in some Fritzyme 7 or the Fritzyme 700 powerstart to help bacteria growth as well.
