TheMilkman
I'm currently setting up a hard water tank and I'm having a hard time thinking of some hard water schooling fish, any ideas?
Brian
What about any of the African Tetras? Not sure if they like harder water or not. Also what do you consider hard water? maybe Rasboras?
Scapexghost
Every fish you can find in a fish store will do fine in hard water, so dont be afraid to do neons or rummies. For a truly hardwater species, pick a flavor of rainbow fish.
CorydorasEthan
From what I've read, a lot of the species of tetra should work just fine, especially the African tetras like the Congo tetra. Rainbowfish species in general originate from areas with harder water, so most Melanotaenia, Glossolepis, and Pseudomugil species should be fine as well. As always, it depends on the water parameters your local fish stores already keep them in. If local fish are already adjusted to harder water, they should be just fine in your tank. I hope this helps!
BradfordAquatics
Like others have mentioned, I wouldn't worry about any of your typical schooling fish in hard water. They will all adapt and do just fine in hard water. The only reason they would need soft water is for breeding, and even then, some species can successfully breed in hard water as well.
