JoeQ
It just really occurred to me, and I feel like an idiot. Should I have removed bio media when I started keeping a planted tank? Originally I started with a typical cichlid setup (tons of bio media no plants) and gravitated to a community planted tank because of the aggression. Never really considering if the amount of bio media would work against plant growth!

JoeQ
As in bio media in the filter. It never really occurred to me until now if excess bio media in the filter affects plant growth or dilutes fertilizer(s)
Mmiller2001
No, it's fine. Too little turnover is a bigger issue. Edited June 12, 2022 by Mmiller2001
