Travis
I have a couple boxes of 12 gram CO2 cartridges from a paintball pistol that I no longer use frequently. I would like to use them to dose CO2 in a nano planted tank. I am planning to just do the inverted bottle/tube method to add the CO2. Is there an adapter/valve available that would work for this? I have the paintball adapter for piercing the cartridge already and need a controlled way to add the CO2.
KBOzzie59
I think this would also fit the 12 gram carts. Fluval Pressurized CO2 Kit (45 g), up to 30 US Gal (115 L) FLUVALAQUATICS.COM Kit includes: Disposable CO2 cartridge (45 g) Regulator valve CO2 ceramic diffuser 2-in-1 Bubble Counter/Check valve Bracket Hose Disposable CO2 cartridge (45 g) Regulator valve CO2 ceramic diffuser 2-in-1 Bubble... Travis
I'll look into it. I thought those used screw in cartridges? The ones I have are not threaded.
Dandy Pearl
I just did a quick google and Petco sells Fluval 12g CO2 cartridges, so they must also sell a method of delivery. I'd suggest checking out the Fluval web site. Be aware though, single stage regulators, I've heard, can 'blow off' the remains of a CO2 tank into your fish tank. I suspect there is a 'minimum working pressure' of these regulators. A pressure below this level may not allow the regulator to function correctly and allow the gas to flow un-regulated. I hope this works well for you while you use up your cartridges. Good luck!
Travis
The Fluval kits use a 95 gram threaded cylinder that screws directly into their regulator. A 12 gram cylinder used for paintball/pellet guns is not threaded so it needs an adapter to hold the cylinder and pierce it. Im thinking I need an adapter for my paintball bucket changer and a valve I can slowly open to release co2 into a passive co2 bell.
