skillet
Greetings everyone! Just joined and have a question. Has anyone tried cutting the plastic piece that sits on top of a sponge filter. First is that OK and what did you use to cut it?
xXInkedPhoenixX
Hi @skillet welcome to the forum. If you're talking about the cap- many people do in order to place an airstone inside them (as a lot of them are not designed to put the airstone inside) I've seen people on youtube cut them with garage snips as the plastic is very hard (though they'd probably have to be narrow in most cases). If you're talking about the tube- I've done it with a small fine bladed hand saw. Edited May 28, 2022 by xXInkedPhoenixX

Patrick_G
I concur with @xXInkedPhoenixX. If it’s the tube you’re thinking about it can be cut, left off or even extended using some plastic pipe from the hardware store.
skillet
Thanks, I was talking about the plastic piece on top of the filter that bubbles. Gonna use a coping saw blade. skillet
