Marc
Hi, Is this some type of algae I should do something about. I haven't seen the Otocinclus, shrimp or endlers touch it. It's on a Floating Christmas Moss Ball but nowhere else in the 15g moderately planted tank. The tank is well oxygenated, and there is no other visible algae in the tank There is a lot of flow right next to this.
Travis
That looks like it could be Cyanobacteria. You should carefully remove it all together before it spreads. Is the tank relatively new or well established?
bcflowerlady
Hi Marc. That is blue green algae, which actually is a bacterial mat. Take the ball out and rinse/brush it all off. Blue green algae usually grows in stagnant areas. If there is good water flow it shouldn't regrow. Good luck!
Marc
Three month old tank. I will take out the moss ball and remove the mat engulfing it. Thanks for your replies.
