Nav
Just wondering if people have re-built tanks and which method they went with to join the glass panes together. I know the standard method of placing the silicone on one surface than placing the edge of the glass on to that silicone is the most common method, however, I have been looking into the silicone injection method as well. Opinion is divided on this it seems, most people seem to think the injection method gives a better bond as there is less contact time with air so it makes a stronger bond. Just wanting to see how many people out there have built tanks that are 200 gallons or more and which method they used
CT_
I've never rebuilt a tank but PDMS (silicone) will covalently bond to glass so I think the most important thing is to make sure you clean both surfaces REALLY good and if there used to be silicone on the joint I'd also sand the mating surfaces and wipe everything with acetone. Nav
Yep, fair enough - i think sanding might be the key to get a good bond done
