Desktop Aquatics
Not sure if this a concern or not as I am pretty new to otos just noticed it this morning? Anyone help out identify if this a concern or not?
xXInkedPhoenixX
Interesting. To me it looks more like a trick of the light. Otos are fairly translucent so it might not be a concern. Redness around the gill area would be more of an issue. Is it acting any different? If you can get a pic of the Oto against the glass it might be helpful to see their underside. I keep Otos so I know that's a big ask- they can be hard to catch on camera.
Desktop Aquatics
@xXInkedPhoenixX no odd behavior I had noticed it today and the others aren’t the same. It could be a diet thing maybe, but I had noticed today on the glass and he moved immediately when I got the camera out. I’ll try and get better pics this evening
xXInkedPhoenixX
Yes my Otos do that too as soon as the camera comes out or I approach the tank so I know it's hard. Sometimes if I do suspect illness I'll catch them out of the tank and put them in container and wait until they stick to the side (so hopefully a relatively see through container. This is also a hard task. All that to say, at least so far I'm not too concerned there's something wrong- but we need a belly/lung check, if the belly is like a pearl, the gills don't look inflamed and it's acting ok otherwise I think you're good. My Otos are different shades of the same pattern and sometimes change color.
Desktop Aquatics
No pics were captured but observing all my otos and the one in question I do believe it is alright and has just a strange coloration. Everything about it seems healthy just a leafy red hue to this one. Will continue to update this post if something changes!
