Leo2o915
Do I have to clean it or would it clear up by itself with a day or 2 ? Won’t be adding fish til Tuesday ?
mynameisnobody
I clean any substrate I ever use before it goes into the aquarium, unless it’s eco-complete.
Stef
I bought this same CaribSea sand to set up my 6 gal cube. I rinsed it really well (pretty easy to do for a nano) and had almost no cloudiness from the get go. I used a very small amount of the bio-magnet clarifier that came with it. Not sure if that made the difference in water clarity or it was the rinsing. The sand was pretty dusty in the bag. 1
Brandon p
The directions say to rinse it lightly. @Stefthat is the first one I have seen it in a tank and I think I’m going to try some after seeing yours. Are there and downside I should know about.
Stef
@Brandon pno real downside so far. It’s a little lighter in color than I wanted. Sort of an off white but not bright white. I like that the sand particles are bigger (less fine) than actual sand. Doesn’t get sucked up in the gravel vac like basic sand. I think if you have mystery snails or plecos that are pooping machines, the poop is going to stand out against the light color.
