Fish Folk
After yesterday’s fun, the creek was calling again today! Wild Darter! Wild Darter with Darter fry! Sculpins up close! Unknown shiners? Creek chubs? Crayfish / Crawdads…
Fish Folk
Excited to possibly have solved the Darter I.D. for the fish in our backyard -- I think these are Tessellated Darters (Etheostoma olmstedi). Far as I know, I may have just updated our Maryland State Biodiversity Project with the first record in our County for the fish (woo-woo!) What's so cool is that we caught an adult and fry yesterday. Today, we caught another one -- despite the 101-degree Fahrenheit afternoon temperature. The Mountain Run water is reasonably cool compared to the high temps. 3
