anewbie
One negative of Rephashy i find is that after you mix it - it has a short shelf life (2-3 weeks) in the refridge. Is there an easy way to increase the shelf life so a larger amount can be mixed at one time ?
Lowells Fish Lab
Sure, try freezing it. When I do new batches I pour it while still liquid into a mini ice cube tray and freeze it. If you leave it in the freezer uncovered it will dehydrate a bit and float when you put it in water (which might even be a good thing). If you seal up the frozen repashy in a container or freezer bag it will retain it's moisture longer and sink more quickly. Either way, its shelf life can be greatly increased. I don't know the upward limit but probably longer than you would ever encounter if feeding with any regularity. 1
anewbie
Shouldn't you defrost it before putting it in the tank ?
Hobbit
I was wondering if you could freeze prepared Repashy. Good to know! I’ve thrown small cubes of frozen homemade gel food into my tanks plenty of times and no one seems to mind. They just wait for it to defrost before eating it.

It won't hurt anything if you don't defrost it just changes its behavior temporarily. Edited May 1, 2021 by Lowells Fish Lab
