Tamzy
I'm considering getting a 3D background for my new 75g cichlid tank. However, I am concerned about what goes on between the background and the glass. Has anyone had one set up for a while that can share what happens back there? Does waste build up back there, should I expect an ammonia spike in the future and a tank full of dead fish? I understand there are ways to keep water flowing, but that doesn't necessarily keep it "clean" from decaying waste. Any tips?
Mr. Ed's Aquatics
I have them in a couple tanks and have had no issues. There should be no build up behind them as they are meant to be installed with silicone and is literally attached to the back panel. They become the new back panel. Just remember to rinse / soak it beforehand and make sure it's totally dry before installing it.
Maximus71
I haven't tried one yet but am considering this for my 29 gallon planted tank: I like the idea that it is on the outside of the tank and that it is cheap. If you watch other videos on this guys channel, he has these on all of his tanks. I think they look pretty good.
