Why is the top turning brown?

I am still cycling my aquarium and I noticed bubbles on top of the water and im not sure whats causing it

Yes im cycling with no fish its just ada amazonia substrate with plants and some hitch hiker bladder snails.

I'm still cycling my tank. Not sure if my ammonia level is a 2.0 or 4.0ppm. Should I keep changing the water every day? If so how much should I change?

I just set up my 20 gallon tank yesterday and it currently has Ada Amazonia substrate. I used API Quick Start after filling it with water. Will I be able to put in plants today?

Can I leave plants in a bucket of water with a light source for a couple of days before putting them in the aquarium? Do i need to put a filter?

I just got penguin 150 filter that has not been used in a while. The biowheel has some i think mineral build up and algae. Should I clean it? if so how would i clean it? or Should i replace it?
