Kanaplex is a good idea and maybe Maracyn (erythromycin) to make sure you have all the bases covered.
There’s a lot of variables that can affect the water quality of a fish tank. Not sure what you mean by “tests were negative”. Do you mean everything was 0? That’s odd for a cycled tank since you should have some nitrates unless it’s heavily planted. Also what is the PH?

@PineSong I have also experienced this, and I expect that overbreeding has caused some genetic deficiencies (de-fish-encies😁) which mean that some guppies are just late bloomers.
That’s what I was thinking… most likely just misgendering young fish rather than actual sex changes.

I have not seen it personally but I’ve heard that female only tanks can sometimes have a female turn into a male? Is that the case?

@Barbvdaywhat kind of plant is that in the top right of the picture?
It’s a canna lily. This is pretty much an experiment to see if this variety can live fully submerged for long periods. So far so good (it’s been 1 month).

You can use fishing line to wrap around the moss and “train it” to grow how you want it

Hmmm think he’ll do good in my 75g? 😅😂

Those are awesome! Where did you find those? Never saw them before, are the difficult to keep?
I got them from a reputable seller off band app (Alex fish room). They have been quarantined and so far so good.

Hi thanks for your response!
The tank is 18g, the 2 shrimp that passed are from the same breeder as some other shrimp which are completely fine, the corys are also from the same breeder. Unfortunately our local pet stores are very bad, I get my shrimp (and cory) online.
I have the same issue with stores around me. Could have been stress from shipping perhaps. Neos can be sensitive when getting settled but once established the colonies breed like crazy.

Out of curiously… how big is your tank?
The tank is still fairly new as well but seems like the other shrimp are doing good so far so that’s good news. Ideally there should be 0 ammonia and nitrite but the levels are very low so it should be fine.
Did you get the shrimp from the same source? I find that local breeders are best unless you’re sure the pet store acclimated their shrimp properly.

If the mother is new she may have birthed prematurely… it happens sometimes.
Guppies are quite tolerant of temps but a heater may help. It is odd that there’s 0 nitrates though, it can happen in heavily planted tank but normally that’s the time when I add some ferts. Not sure if more food was needed, especially in a planted tank with no other fish, I personally only feed guppy babies 2x per day on average and they do fine.

There are a few pumps that are fairly cheap there’s an aqua eat on Amazon for about $8. Power heads work too.

Are the fins still deteriorating? Fin rot looks like the fins are melting away and look very ragged once it starts to heal the fins have a more defined shape.
If it still looks bad, you want to add some medication or at the very least Indian almond leaves to combat infection if any.bettafix gets a bad rap but I find that it does help with fin regrowth, kordon fish protector is also good.

Septicemia is a blood infection and sometimes it does present itself with red streaking. It May not have spread throughout the body yet but it does look like an infection.
if there’s no response with erythromycin then it may be a good idea to get gram negative antibiotics like kanaplex or Maracyn-2- 1

I would try aquarium salt and Indian almond leaves to see if that resolves it.
In my opinion, this doesn’t look bloody enough to have been a hookworm but hard to tell. They usually come off with the head easily as well.

I love these guys! I keep them in a 75 gallon tank and they hang out mostly on the top section of the tank.
I do have some floating plants as well as a huge Anubias that has big leaves close to the surface. They do school from time to time as well.
I keep temp at 82° PH around 7.4 and I do water changes at least once a week but usually more often. They’re in there with rainbow cichlids so there’s pretty much always babies in there and get fed with live brine shrimp regularly.
The pencilfish now eat just about everything but they have tiny mouths so many pellets don’t work.

There should be more tanks in the pic… I always get larger ones to “replace the smaller one” but I never take it down lol

I've been keeping aquariums, off and on for a long time. Back in January, I decided that I wanted to try my hand at keeping Neocaridina shrimp. After seasoning a 10 gallon for 6 months, I bought 10 Bloody Mary Shrimp on June 4th, from a local breeder. I know that most of them are bloody mary but a few of the males are lighter and possibly some grade of RCS. At least two of the females are berried, so I'm hoping some little shrimplettes will hatch soon.
Anyway, I've been bitten by the shrimp bug. Last night I had a shrimp dream, where I had a racking system that held two 20 long and six 10 gallon tanks, each with different varieties of shrimp. I had also bought a 75 gallon and moved my community tank to it and then convertedmy 40 GB to a heavily plantedshrimp sanctuary. Does anyone else have shrimp dreams?
I have lots of shrimp daydreams if that counts lol
they’re definitely addicting!

Alright sooooo I got the Fluval CO2 kit a while ago because it was on super sale and I got it for a song.
I’m fairly new to CO2 but not to planted tanks and I want to give it a go… this kit works ok but it’s definitely not perfect.
I’m willing to invest some money into a better setup with a solenoid and more reliable features. Preferably something mid range (maybe $300 or so).
Any recommendations or tips?

Was there a pair of Angels or pair of Rainbow Cichlids in the tank? I'm assuming that you didn't see these two spawning. Some cichlids will begin to display parental instinct with fry not their own.
Yes, I have a few adults there so it is possible two rainbow cichlids mated and now the angel is taking over.

Can rainbow cichlids and angelfish hybridize?
at first I was confused since there was only one female rainbow guarding the babies and the angel was awfully close.I then realized that the angel is watching over the babies as well!!I’m not sure if the female mates previously with another rainbow male or what but I’ve never heard of two vastly different species of cichlid working together to protect fry.
