  1. @clownbaby ive never heard of that one actually, temp is set to 78. @Ninjoma I’ve owned some of all of those so any could be possible but whatever this is has been thriving by accident. I noticed this tiny stringy plant growing in the tank and thought it was some nuisance like bladderwort. When I upgraded the light whatever it is it has completely changed in appearance and really started to grow floating. I like the look of it so was hoping to ID it to be able to decide how I want to grow it going forward.
  2. Can anyone identify this plant for me please?
  3. Fingers crossed, I can’t imagine any parasitic or bacterial infections would still be the cause after the amount of time/ exposure to the meds unless they are resistant. I would assume it’s organ failure at this point. Obviously not a professional opinion but with that being said, I may just water change out her tank so it’s clean and hope. Perhaps her immune system will respond to the change.
  4. Thank you @Colu, I don’t currently have maracyn 2 on hand but may be able to pick some up after I work tomorrow and will consider giving that a try. I appreciate you advising on this process I had hoped for a more pleasant outcome but honestly we did what we could. I’m not gonna completely give up on her yet but best guess is she probably doesn’t have long.
  5. 6/18 today she is mostly floating on her side. She does not seem stressed she just seems either exhausted or at peace. When she try’s to swim it’s like she knows what she wants to do but her body or buoyancy won’t allow it and it immediately flips her to one side or another. Not so much upside down today but definitely on her side. Upon inspection since she is at the surface of the water I noticed what looks like a bit of a bulge near her abdomen. Resembles a bubble which is probably why she’s ballooning back to the surface anytime she try’s to swim. Perhaps infection or trapped gas idk what it is, I’ll try to get a picture.
  6. 6/17 dosed with metro, not much change to report, fish is definately a fighter, still seems to have some serious buoyancy issues.
  7. 6/15 dosed the tank with metro because it’s so hard for her to eat I wanted to make sure the meds were at least absorbed.
  8. 6/14 9:30pm added epsom salt raising the level to approx 1 tablespoon per 2 gallons
  9. I hope so too, I think I actually have metro and focus on hand so I can start that feeding regimen tomorrow. Should I just add 2 tablespoons of the epsom tonight?
  10. Ordering metro right now and I’ll do the math on the salt adjustment and update thank you @Colu 10 gallon tank currently containing 3 and a pinch tablespoons, should I just add 2 tablespoons?
  11. Thank you @Tony s I’m trying everything I can hoping for success as well but I’ve ran into my share of swim bladder issues that haven’t had happy endings also. This fish is a fighter though that’s for sure…
  12. 6/14 the affected angelfish appears to be more active today in his attempts to swim, however still unsuccessful in the sense that the swimming is generally more of an upside down coast or a side glide, followed by the fish attempting to or appearing correct itself.
  13. 6/13 He appears to be a bit more active than usual but is still very significantly disoriented. He swims in full circles or whirls but he’s not laying down just flailing his fins as much. Still in rough shape. Going to feed a bit of krill flake as I’ve noticed weight loss over the course of this illness. I ruled out constipation as I witnessed a movement a few days ago. He will still attempt to eat.
  14. 6/11 epsom salt added 6/12 10 almond leaves added
  15. Edit: opted to go straight into treatment as this poor fish has been battling this for a while, any possible relief I may give her is worth it… I’m adding 3 tablespoons + a pinch of epsom salt directly to her 10 gallon tank today and 10 leaves have been ordered for delivery tomorrow morning which will add as they arrive. I will update again no later than 6/16, perhaps intermittently until then as well… thank you so much
  16. @Colu thank you I will add follow the instructions as written, should I remove any remaining meds first or just go straight to treatment?
  17. I will try to snap a picture and txt the params as soon as I get home from work today. I think it’s been 3 doses of Polyguard over the course of 9 days and 4 doses of kana. I could be slightly off on that, I made a note somewhere I’ll have to see if I can find it. Thanks
  18. Hey everybody, hoping someone can advise. One of my breeder angelfish has fallen ill. She seems to be seriously affected with something swim bladder related as she cannot control her swimming much whatsoever. I have been treating her for about a week with kana and polyguard, every 2 days kana, 3 days poly. I saw some initial improvement but her condition remains relatively unchanged. I do not believe this to be a random occurrence but rather an infection of some sort. It originated with a cloudy eye which at one point got so bad it appeared she had lost her eye altogether. The erratic swimming followed shortly after. The eye was not lost it is almost back to 100% normal again but the swimming issue remains, so whatever was infecting the eye perhaps caused a secondary infection if that info helps. Can anyone advise on what I can or should do differently, it’s hard bc I’m unaware of what the actual cause could be…thanks in advanced
  19. Hey all, anyone have any fun/ interesting ways outside of storing that they downsize on some of the miscellaneous things they collect regarding the hobby but don’t want to get rid of? I was cleaning up and saw tubs and tubs of filter foams and old sponge filters and caves and hides and clay pots and tunnels etc and thought I would ask the forum if anyone has things they do with stuff they don’t necessarily want to get rid of but don’t want taking up room either…
  20. I would leave the stems alone until the plant is thriving. Root tab supplementation probably would help in this case as I believe banana plants are primarily root feeders that store nutrients in the “bananas”. Could be wrong on that but that’s how I’ve understood them. With this being said, couldn’t hurt anyway to attempt to add nutrients to correct the deficiency via the substrate. It would make sure your plant is getting them and with the easy green (water column dosing) as well as the lighting schedule you have would attack quite a few of the listed ways for optimum growth. https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/banana-plant-an-unusual-aquarium-plant-for-beginners also make sure your tubers or (bananas) aren’t suffocating
  21. Yes sorry the egg shells will float, everything looks normal
  22. I used to use that one a long time ago, make sure your using the correct amount of salt then honestly it’s just sit and wait. I feel like (unconfirmed) due to the lack of an airstone and water movement this one takes on the higher end of the 24-36 hrs but it works. You will probably also find when they hatch you have to scoop multiple times to get the vast majority of them. Also probably a bit slower hatch at 72 then 78-80
  23. Not a plant expert but it appears to be a nutrient deficiency of some sort. Questions that will help diagnose: 1. What are water params? 2. What is the substrate used? 3. Any ferts, c02 or root tabs 4. what light/ lighting schedule is used? here’s a bit of info that may prove helpful as well https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/plant-nutrient-deficiencies
  24. Hey all, how often do you guys use your vitachem and how do you dose it? Anything fancy or just in water or soaked food? What have you noticed using it?
