Mine pretty much ignore water lettuce, and did not touch the hornwort when I had it in there. Duckweed rarely last more than a few days, they love snacking on it.

I just rub a pinch of flakes in my fingers as I sprinkle it in the tank. That allows me to create bits of different sizes as I have other fish in there that aren't really interested in the really small stuff so it works out. I also use coops easy fry, my chili rasboras in the 20 gallon love it.

They have small mouths, so I crush the flakes a bit when I feed that kind of food.

The females will have a fan shaped anal fin. The males will have a gonopodium, which they can flex to the side or even kind of forward. The first image has clamped fins so I can't tell. The second or bottom image looks like a female

Chilis are pretty shy. Originally they were in with my kubotai rasboras but hid a lot. I eventually moved them to their own tank with only shrimp as tank mates. After the move they came out and aren't shy anymore.

They do a flower stalk, at least all my anubias do.

I agree with @lefty o. Try backing it off to 8 hours.

2 weeks is typically not enough time to get a tank cycled. Without an ammonia source it takes a while to get them going. Getting 6 fish in there all at once may have overloaded the process and stressed the fish. If you can find someone local who has an (healthy) established tank, see if you can get some squeezings from a sponge from one of their filters.

Welcome to the forum, that 6 gallon tank would make a good shrimp tank 🙂

Shrimp are pretty hardy, but can't take rapid changes in water parameters. Slow and steady is best. If you are keeping neos 6.4 is not ideal. They also do best in an aged mature tank.
Crushed Coral is probably your best option as you said. I can't personally attest to how effective it is since I don't need it with my hard water. There are plenty of people here who do use it however. It's good for live bearers as well.
