That's a good thought! The hole is about 1.5-2mm larger on each side of the bulkhead when centered. It's a bit looser of a fit than some of the other bulkheads I have, which I kind of have to wiggle in.
But there is the thing, I was using this same hole for months without a problem. Then I had to go and change the plumbing below. Turns out the plumbing it was glued to couldn't take the extra water, and so I had to cut the old bulkhead assembly off. The new one I fitted (same size and manufacturer) leaks. It's kind of caught me by surprise. I'll admit, because the setup worked before, I had no expectation this would be an issue.
Back to plumbing I guess...
I recommend installing larger bulkheads, if they can fit; and then get reducers to fit the existing PVC.

Hi @Cory!
Attending Aquahella this weekend and stumbled upon a new Xtreme product at their booth — 1.5 slow-sinking pellet with color enhancer! Can’t wait to get home and give it a try. Xtreme folks would love for the co-op to pick up the new product. Hoping so too if it works as well as their other products.
Also, @Zenzodid a fantastic job representing the co-op during his first public speaking assignment on the fish hobby. Excellent addition to the co-op team!

Anti-perfect LFS is when there are dead fish in the tanks that have clearly been dead for a while, i.e stuck on the overflow drains for what seems like forever, and being feasted on well past death by immediate tank mates, etc.

I place my filter socks in the washer with bleach only (no soap/detergents) and then air dry. Pretty impressed with how well they clean, and obviously with little effort.

Couple of years ago I accidentally damaged the center support brace on my 55g. Didn’t realize how important that was until I noticed the significant bowing days later.
Even worse, I was going away for a week and didn’t feel comfortable with leaving the tank for days knowing that a catastrophic fail was imminent.
I ran to home depot and bought a clamp to provide the needed support. It worked perfectly!
On the way home, I picked up a new 55g tank, which thankfully was conveniently timed with Petco’s dollar for gallon sale.
But I swear that the clamp could have held the tank indefinitely. If you are in a pinch for cash, that will hold you for a good while

I have been in the hobby for a while and believed that Tetra pumps ended with ratings for up to 100g. I have a few Tetra 60s and 100s.
Mid 2020, I set up a mini fish room in my office. I have four 40g breeder and a 125g stacked along the wall. Someday I may actually grab a linear piston pump. But as expressed above, perhaps overkill for my current setup.
I was actually quite surprised to learn that Tetra makes air pumps for tanks rated for 150g and 300g. I purchased the the Tetra Whisper AP300. I am using that to run to run 9 sponges. It seems like I can run even more, as the air flow out of all sponges is very good. -
Aqua Huna, AquaBid, eBay, etc... Keep in mind that PetSmart and Petco have guarantees. You can return fish to them, i.e. dead fish!

And I simply have left my FX filter in the tote well after the repair/replacement.
In the end, I don't feel that a safety tote is a safeguard, unless you are checking it daily (who does that?).
By the time your safety tote reveals there is a problem, you will have filled it up and possibly overflowed it. And that is concerning, as the electricals of your canister filter will be fully immersed in water. Who would want to dig their hands in there and turn it off?

Can't state enough that maintenance is the key. However, as per my experience, it is certainly not to the levels that Fluval recommend. I love how @Corypreaches that you cannot learn hands on. But rather, you must immerse yourself and see what works well for you!

I know many have had their issues with canister filters. I currently have 10 tanks in my home, including a 180g, 125g, 75g and 65g tanks. I have sump filters, Fluval FX filters, Fluval 30x and Fluval 40x filters, aqua clears, and ACO sponges. FX filters were definitely purchased at PetSmart's half off sales (as @Randysaid, amazing deals or even steals!)
My original FX6 had a leak at the pump due to a failing O-ring. Thankfully, I caught the leak in time before any serious damage. However, the leak only occurred after a year or so of use, and I must admit that I performed little maintenance on it. I am committed now to opening the canisters in intervals of less than a year. If not already depicted, these guys are champs.
Yes, maintenance is not easy. Yes, I have to always pull up the instruction manual out on the FXs (not the 30x or 40x) to make certain I am draining, filling them up correctly. But that is a testament to how rare how I actually perform maintenance on them.
I am not a Fluval salesman. Would actually love to put sump filters and sponges on all of my tanks. But right now, the canisters are working just well, coupled with aqua clears and sponges on the same tanks. -

Did you mean nitrIte & nitrAte? If both are at zero and you don't have any plants or other sources consuming your nitrates, then it sounds like you are not ready to add fish yet -- your setup has not completed the nitrogen cycle.

You mentioned everything is at positive levels, but didn't mention the specific levels.
You mentioned your tank size and filter, but didn't mention your stocking.
How long has your tank been running? 1-2 months? 1-2 years?
Can you account for every fish that you placed in the tank?
Total cleaning? That may have removed beneficial bacteria from you tank. which may have compounded the problem.
Can you provide anymore details?-

Can't say that I am a expert or female vs . male Betta fish. But based on the pictures and video you supplied, I'd cast my vote in the male camp.

I had a similar issue. I initially thought that it was ironic that the no clog air stone clogged. I have several of them running on multiple tanks without any issue, but on one tank in kept clogging inside of a sponge filter. Finally replaced it with a standard air stone and all was well. But a day or so later the standard stone clogged. Discovered that the stones were not at fault, clearly as I was not having this problem in my other tanks. Rather, the airline was being pinched inside of the sponge filter.
I should note that I also believed the filter pads in the stone was the culprit and replaced them without any success. User error (or Id10t error) was the problem in my case.

I was also at aquashella in Orlando. I purchased and shipped home a few driftwood pieces from this vendor. I have not ordered online yet, but made it a point to jot down the vendor’s info. Some of the items at aquashella Orlando were not able to fit in the vendor’s traditional packaging for shipping (off by a few inches here and there), which is why the pieces were being offloaded there. But I will definitely look them up when I am looking for large pieces.
Vendor did not have business cards, so I took a picture of his daughter’s shirt.
