  1. Thanks @Fish Folk I'll attempt some video as the pictures I tried were just a blur. I've got them in a 5 gallon Qt and they've had a round of meds already.
  2. Just move your aquarium into the shed it's easy lol
  3. Hi folks, Ive noticed the little barbels on the danios I picked up are brown and look a bit fuzzy. Is this an age thing or an infection? The juveniles I got have small white ones which match all the pictures Google pulls up. I do appreciate a picture says a thousand words but they're way too fast for that 😂
  4. I already have a panel I got from eBay which has 2 usb ports as well as wiring for a charge controller. I used it to run a nano pump successfully when I had cherry shrimp in an outdoor tub but I only needed to run that in the day due to the low bioload A higher bioload would need to run 24 hours but eco mode should achieve that ???
  5. On a live stream Cory and Zenzo mentioned you can connect the new air pump to a battery backup and it made me wonder how it would work connected to a small solar panel? Might be an option for ponds and tubs or even if you have a window near your tank and are short of power outlets? In power save mode it could be a great option
  6. Here's the article I found https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8191517/#:~:text=The survival of the fish,of the infected fish decreased. Obviously that was studying resistance to a specific disease but I think it's a fairly safe assumption that it would improve immunity to a range of nastiness as it does in humans. Also in this instance they saw increased growth rates which is why I thought about fry food. Maybe using a tote as a grow out is an option??
  7. @Flumpweesel wasn't aware of the staining issue so that may put an end to that idea. My current mix just gets mixed into the tank water so the shrimp can just roam the tank and graze. I might try the paprika tho and see if it intensifies the red
  8. I just listened back to one of @Randy interviews with Rosario Lacorte where he talks about paprika as a colour enhancer. I've also read an article about the health benefits of turmeric for fish. Has anyone tried either as a fry/shrimp food? I have mixed up first bites, repashy and spirulina for shrimp and just let it dust the tank. I'm wondering about the benefits of adding paprika and turmeric to the mix
  9. Good to know @WhitecloudDynasty , I'm kind of hoping they'll do what my emerald dwarf Rasbora did and spawn in my Qt tank and make me look like a master breeder 😁
  10. I'd stick with the gravel and get some easy plants going. Once you get them going monitor your water parameters and if your nitrate is low add fish. When you're water changes get to the limit of comfortable and not a chore you have enough fish. At least that's how I work
  11. I picked up 3 glowlight danios from a lady that was closing her fish room. On the way home I called in at my LFS and grabbed another 3. Hopefully there a bit happier in a bigger group
  12. If anybody was wondering what happens to Java moss if you dump it in a bucket and leave it in your shed for 9 months...... absolutely nothing, that's what happens 😁
  13. @Colu yep your right I was just being lazy and hoping someone else would justify it for me 😁
  14. They'll be going in a tank with amano shrimp and a lot of nano fish. Not sure if cherries can pass anything on to them?
  15. Just wanted to gauge people's opinion. I've only ever got shrimp with new fish before so I quarantine everything together. New shrimp coming tomorrow and I'm wondering if I should drag one of my 5 gallons out???
  16. Unfortunately I'm in the Midlands but thanks anyway
  17. Sounds promising, I use the tub with gravel and moss method with my CPD's so should work with glowlights I'd imagine
  18. I'm picking up some shrimp at the weekend from a local hobbyist who's closing down their fish room. I noticed they also have three glowlight danios which is obviously not a good number however assuming they aren't all the same sex and of breeding age how hard are they to spawn? I have had plenty of success breeding celestial pearl danios so if they're similar I'd feel much more confident giving it a shot
  19. Thanks @Guppysnail just wanted to check before I start scouring marketplace
  20. I take my dog to the local woods every now and again and while I'm there I collect Daphnia from one of the big duck ponds. Having no easy way to keep them alive they pretty much get dumped in the tank and this time of year there's a lot! My question is within reason can you overfeed on something that if it's not eaten can live happily in your tank?
  21. So I'm in the process of getting quotes for a home extension and there will be room for fish corner 🙂 There will be room for a rack with my 5 gallon tanks and 4 new 15 gallons 60 litres here in the UK. So far I'm looking at the tetra starter line tanks and the aquael leddy's. Not sure if these are Europe only models but just wanted to check if they are decent or to avoid? These will be nano fish grow out tanks and I'll be binning the stock filters and running everything on air
  22. Yep, watched Charles Clapsaddle earlie Thoroughly enjoyed the tour video so his talk was first on my list Goliad farms is awesome, just need to change the English weather and convince my better half to let me build a huge greenhouse in the garden!!!
  23. Just wanted to say thanks to @Cory and the members that so generously gift YouTube memberships Very much appreciated, now I just need the co-op to ship to the UK 😁
  24. Thanks @nabokovfan87 I've watched Blake's video and Joey's on making overflows and yes I was planning something considerably smaller with it being for 5 gallon tanks. My main issue is getting them as small but large enough to handle the water volume from the return pump. ideally I need a variable speed DC pump but then the cost gets silly
  25. Thanks for the tip, I'll check out his channel All my fish are nano egg layers, CPD's, emerald dwarf Rasbora, kubotai Rasbora and chili Rasbora.
