I have a 150 gallon fairly heavily planted tank. It is about 2 1/2 months old. I dose with Easy Green twice a week and here is my lighting set up. Is this a normal part of the evaluation of a planted tank?

That's cool.

I set up a 150 gallon planted tank a month ago. It is 24" tall. I am using the Fluval 3.0. I started heavily planted. I put in Anubais, Dworf Sag, Vallisneria, cryps, and stem plants. Here is my lighting set up. I was wondering when can I start increasing the brightness and time the light is on?
Thank you,
Jim T.

They are both a little soft.

Just set up the tank about 2 weeks ago. Is it normal for some of the Anubias plants to turn brown? If not what might be causing it? Have the Fluval 3.0 turning on and off gradually. Max at 50%(all 3 white lights) 25%(red), and 2%(blue). For 10 hours. I am also using Easy Green.

When planting stem plans, will it work to cut a stem in half and try to plant it as two? I have Scarlet Temple, Bocopa Caroliniana, and Barzilian Pennywort.

My concern with the Fluval 3.0 is the longest one they have it's only 48". Won't that leave dark spots on both sides of my tank?

Looking for recommendations for lighting for a planted 150 gallon 72"×18"×27". I plan on growing beginners plants. No co2. I want to carpet the bottom with Micro Sord or Montecarlo. I would like a timer and a dimmer, or at least comparable. I not to concerned about cost, buy I'm not rich either. Also will I need to get two of them?

I was interest in it because of the heater. I just read that even though the filter is for up to 250 gallons the heater is only good for 85 gallons. Seems to defeat the purpose of having a heater in the filter, if you're still going to need on in the tank. I'm definitely going with the FX. Than you for the advice. It definitely pushed me over the edge to the FX.

Thank you. I appreciate it.

Is anyone familiar with the Oase BioMaster 600? How does it stack up against the Fluval FX4?

Thank you.

Thank you. That's what I was thimking. It was one of the things google suggested. Also seems like it would make it shiny.

Thank you, but it's way to big to boil.

I have a very large piece of driftwood looks like a smalle tree trunk. Want to put it in a 125 gallon tank, but I don't want brown water. Will soaking it 24 hours a-day and changing water every morning get the tanning out? If not is it safe to varnish the wood, and will plants grow on it afterwards? Also will it make the wood look weird?
