  1. I have a dwarf aquarium lily that is doing great. It's grown tremendously and filled out very nicely. It's so happy it's sending up a lily pad. But I don't want a lily pad. Any harm in just cutting that back?
  2. The growth is unchanged. The Betta is still active and seems to be otherwise fine. Should I just leave it, or should I try something else. Thanks for your help.
  3. Started mixing because the old test kit showed it coming out of the tap with a PH of more than 8.8. It was actually the local pet store that cued me into the solution of using 1/2 RO and 1/2 tap (which will be cheaper), my question was about the transition from the water I've been making (and want to get away from) and to the pet stores recommendation.
  4. Thank you! What would you suggest to adjust the KH if the test strip goes yellow? Crushed Coral in the filter, Alkaline and Acid Buffer mixed into the water being added, or something else?
  5. I would say GH is 300+ ppm and KH is about 80 ppm. I'm not good at reading test strips, so I'm also going to post pictures. I'm posting my tank water and 1/2 tap and 1/2 RO water also.
  6. I've been mixing my own water with Seachem Equilbrium, Acid Buffer, and Alkaline Buffer added to RO water. I recently learned that the local fish store uses 1/2 Tap and 1/2 RO. I want to switch to that. The water in my aquarium has a higher PH and a higher KH than the new water that is 1/2 Tap and 1/2 RO. Any ideas of how to do this with minimum damage to my plants?
  7. My betta seems fine, except for this spot and a similar one on the other rside.
  8. Can anyone tell me what this is? I think it may be a baby snail. The "mouth" part seemed to be eating off the glass.
  9. That’s how I had it, but I didn’t like that despite careful placement of the air stone and the filter, bubbles escaped trough the sponge. So I’m trying this. I think it should work something like this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1289933237/sponge-filter-turbocharger-unleash?click_key=abbfc105164ad2e9cb83f4b9b5dda9b11388f917%3A1289933237&click_sum=4788cc43&ref=user_profile&sts=1
  10. Looking for some thoughts and feedback. I don't like the way the course sponges of aquarium coop sponge filters leak air. So I tried this. It's easy to disconnect the filter from the airline for cleaning (just lift it out). The lift tube is no narrower than the open area within the sponge filter. I'm sure it's still getting some lift, my question is, is it enough to get enough flow to do any good?
  11. PH 7.8, 6 KH and 8-9 GH. But this is one of five banana plants and none of the others are doing anything like this.
  12. Can anyone tell me what these white growths are on the edge of the leaf?
