Thank you, I will go and try to source these meds asap.

The Rams poo is normal though. I don't think it is internal parasites to be honest.

Awhile ago I bred my super red plakat betta with a red crown tail in hopes of a red crowntail plakat. They're still pretty young but I'll be updating their progress on this journal. I dont have any great photos of the female, and she had a large tumor grow on her shortly after breeding which she died from. But here's the male, definitely one of the most beautiful bettas I've owned
He's gorgeous

Today I swapped out 3 Purigen bags in 3 canister filters. Wasn't much fun but I really needed to get it done and now it is. 😁

I would love the laser mess seeking laser filter in Finding Nemo.

One that just occurred to me is a quick test strip for Ammonia.
The one thing I do worry most about is an Ammonia spike due to an irregularity (dead fish etc) that I might not notice right away. My issue is my aquariums have to be negligent resistant because I have three young kids and pre-virus traveled for work a lot. So regular water changes can be spotty. I've tried those in tank circle ones but they always expire before doing anything (which is good I guess) and I am never going back to test tube drop testing. I burnt out on that years ago.
Let's hear about your non-existent dream product!

I have actually seen a test strip that apparently tests for ammonia on ebay. I'll add a picture if I can find it again.

I have an idea. If you can do a geographically accurate biotope aquarium, why can't you do a historically accurate aquarium. Sort of a historotope if I'm allowed one neologism here.
At an estate sale a while back, I acquired a 1930s era aquarium with a metal frame and a slate bottom. This is not one of those stainless steel MetaFrame aquariums everyone (including me) had back in the 1960s and the 1970s. It is clearly something much older.
Everything about the aquarium was in good shape when I got it, and it was watertight. Last year when I was using it to grow mosquito larva outside I forgot to bring it in when it got cold. When ice formed in the tank the expanding ice blew out one of the glass sides.
So, what might the rules be for a historotope?
Rules:
- You are only allowed to use equipment available during your chosen time period.
- You are only allowed to keep fishes that were available during your chosen time period.
- You must use historically accurate foods.
- You must use historically accurate plants.
- You must use historically accurate substrate and decorations.
- You must use historically accurate maintenance methods.
Since I have the aquarium (once I get it repaired), my chosen time period will be the mid-1930s in the United States. My first step is to get the tank water tight again. I will post more later as this experiment progresses and your thoughts and suggestions come in.
Im actually quite fascinated by your experiment. Can't wait for the updates and pics.

Thanks for the tip guys. Much appreciated.

Thank you for the advice. It's very appreciated. I'll definitely pass it on to him and keep you all updated.

Need help. My son just lost an Angel fish that I believe had Velvet disease. He added Blue Planet Multi cure which is a malachite green medicine, meant to treat white spot, Velvet disease and Fungal diseases. He also turned up the heat to 29°c and added 1 table spoon of Aquarium salt per gallon of water. This didn't work as he lost the fish. Today his Ram has the same white marks on his head as well as the red mark (see picture). Is this infact Velvet disease (spots too long and protruded to be ick) or is it something else?

I have recently noticed one of my Peacocks having long white stringy poo. I had some flubendazol (I know I spelt that wrong) on hand so I dosed the tank with it. This medication is very temperature reliant, so I'm not sure if it works or not. It hasn't had any effect it seems (it's been about 5 days). What medication would people recommend for internal parasites? I think that is the issue. If anyone believes it's something else, please let me know what you think it is and how to treat it please.
