  1. I set the trap in places that were in front of their hiding places and waited. Also I chased them with a net and had the trap in a corner in case they went their.
  2. I have used the diy water bottle trap to catch in my fish but I had never thought to use bait and let the trap sit. I’ll have to try that when I need to catch my cherry barbs again.
  3. I haven’t yet. when I order plants next time I plan to get some pearl weed and let it float since I think my red wolf fish would like that. I’m not sure when I will be ordering plants though.
  4. I’m currently researching colleges and I am thinking about going into some sort of freshwater ichthyology ( I haven’t figured much of my plan yet since I’m still a junior in high school). I was wondering if anyone here is or was in a similar field and what you studied while you were in college.
  5. That’s good. My brother is wanting to setup a darter tank and that would save him a good bit of money on the gravel.
  6. I didn’t know you could get pea gravel from a hardware store. I will have to remember this for future reference.
  7. Mine would probably be buying a cheap hob filter from Walmart for what was at the time my quarantine tank. The filter soon broke so I bought another and it broke so I bought another. I think the third one lasted me quite a bit longer than the other two but it did eventually break. Also I bought cuttle bones because I thought they were dissolving blocks that would get my 10 gallon set to grow out the guppy fry that I have. I have no idea if the cuttle bones are useful for aquariums.
  8. I have an aco light. It is set at 60 but my lid blocks quite a bit because of the material I used to make it.
  9. I am stopping fertilizer for now since I rarely dosed it before. Would less light intensity be better before or after less time with the light on? Also I’m considering turning the light off for an hour in the day since I did that before.
  10. Thanks, I will probably collect some when they start to hatch in the ditch. There has been any water in it for a while so I don’t know how long it will be before they are large enough for me to tell what they are.
  11. If that is a freshwater tank then check and see if it is a freshwater moray eel.
  12. I found those behind my family’s house in a small ditch but I had no clue what they were until now. How can I know if they are parasitic since they would probably go well in the pigmy sunfish tank I will be setting up and scuds are a bit harder to find in the ditch. Also are sow bugs and water lice the same thing or are they different?
  13. No, I didn’t know there were more aquatic isopods than the giant isopod. Could you give me the names of some?
  14. I don’t have them right now since I don’t have an available aquarium and I don’t have the space for another. I didn’t know they existed till this post though I do want to try and breed them one day.
