  1. I'm worried about any hitchhikers/snails as well as any parasites or any other harmful things that could be on the plants.
  2. I recently ordered some salvinia natans. What is the safest way to sterilize these without damaging or killing the plants? I have searched online and have found plenty of information for regular plants but have found nothing regarding floating plants.
  3. Thanks for all your thoughts! I hope they're Chili's....but I guess because a few of them seem to have yellow on them made me wonder. Thanks again.
  4. Can anyone tell me if these are Chili rasboras or exclamation point rasboras? They were just added to their main tank out of quarantine about 2 weeks ago so they haven't colored up completely. I've noticed 2 or 3 seem to have a yellow coloring along the black stripe. I was told they were Chili's but now I'm not sure what I have. I know the pictures aren't great but they're just to quick to get a good picture.
  5. I should have added my nitrates are 10 ppm and I've not added anymore fertilizer. I've already cut the light back to 6 hours so if I cut it back further, how long should I leave them on? I've been doing weekly water changes of about 25% weekly; should I do more? Any idea what kind of algae this is?
  6. I have a relatively a 5 gallon tank thats been up and going about 6 months. It has chili rasboras and 6 cherry shrimp that were just added last week. I'm hoping the shrimp can help with whatever kind of algae is on my plants. Does anybody know what this is and how to get rid of it? The lights were on around 8 hrs daily but I've cut it back to 6 hours. It looks like white/grey fuzz but when you try and pull it off it looks stringy. I have Java fern, java moss, anubias nana petite, staurogyne repens, and bacopa in the tank. Its on all of them and even down into the plants. What can I do to get rid of it?
  7. I just got 10 chili rasboras and was wondering about treating with the quarantine med trio. I was told they were too sensitive and it would be to hard on their tiny little bodies. My quarantine tank is 5 gallons and they are currently going thru a slow drip acclimation. Could someone please give me your opinion on whether or not I should add the quarantine meds or not?
