  1. @EricksonAquatics Thanks for the info!
  2. What would be the healthiest food I could get for my betta fish?
  3. I fasted her for two days and she’s a lot skinnier but still looks the same as far as pinecone. What do y’all think?
  4. @clownbaby Those are some great ideas! Thank you!
  5. I’m working on a 10 gallon tank for my Betta fish and two Nerite snails. I’m thinking about Caribsea Carolina Creek or Torpedo Beach, I want the substrate to be fine enough to look similar to sand but also coarse enough that I can gravel vac without worrying about it getting sucked into the vacuum. I currently have black sand (Aqua Natural Galaxy) I absolutely hate it. What should I get?
  6. it looks like it her left eye might be a little. Thank you for the information!
  7. Well, tomorrow will be one week for my bettas dropsy. She is still alive, still has a great appetite, and still swimming around happily. I’ve been changing her water daily, and dosing her tank with aquarium salt after every water change. (Excuse the Tupperware, she’s waiting to go back in her hospital tank) she’s still a little pinecone but to me it looks like she’s getting a little better. I checked all my parameters in her regular tank everything was good Ammonia 0ppm Nitrite 0ppm Nitrate 20ppm GH 75ppm KH 80ppm PH 7.2 I have been having problems keeping the GH, KH, and PH in the ideal range. I don’t know if that has something to do with it. I also recently got a 10 gallon tank for her and her buddies, I have had her and 2 Nerite snails in a 3.5 gallon. I was thinking maybe that’s too much of a bio load for the 3.5gallon? I tried to use a fish calculator but it wasn’t loading. my snails do poop an outrageous amount, but I do vacuum it out once a week. I don’t know. Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated. I have no clue why it just posted that 3 times. Sorry!!

  10. This morning while feeding betta fish I noticed her scales were sticking out like a pine cone (I will attach photos below). This is the first time I’m dealing with any kind of sickness/problem with her so I don’t really know what it is for sure or exactly what I should be doing about it. I’m currently on the way to petco to get a quarantine tank for her, as I have a planted tank and two snails. I do have aquarium salt that I will be treating her with. • Is there anything else I need to be giving her? • Do I treat the two snails? If yes, how? • Do I need to put something in my planted tank she was in to clean it? I feed her Xtreme betta floating pellets Monday-Thursday and then Hikari Blood Worms Friday-Saturday. I don’t know if she’s been eating the snails food it is a possibility. 🤷🏻‍♀️
  11. https://a.co/d/gvPdV1F I have had this heater in my betta tank for almost 1 year. I have the 25 watt for my 3.5 gallon tank so I don’t know if the dimensions are the same, mine is 4”X1”.
  12. I got my first Nerite snails in November, they both had little craters on the tips of their shells. One of them now is almost completely healed. The other has stayed the same, it honestly might have gotten a little worse. So my first question is why isn’t its shell healing, should I be concerned or doing anything special for it? They both slide around the tank all day grazing on biofilm and algae they also enjoy an occasional treat of KatsAquatics Calcium+Nutrition and Nano Banquet Food Blocks on rotation. My second question is now that they have significantly less algae to eat how often should I be feeding them? ⬆️This is Lenny (the healing one)⬆️ ⬆️This is Dewey (the not healing one)⬇️
  13. Thank you! I’m not really too sure what happened but I know the Nitrite was at 10.0 PPM I tested multiple times throughout that day and it stayed the same till I did a water change. Since then I have gotten the Nitrite to 3.0 PPM. So it is going down thankfully. Thank you for the advice! I guess she’s just tough as nails, I was afraid she was going to die. So grateful she didn’t!
  14. Ok, I will try that and see what happens. Thank you for the advice!
  15. It is new, I got it 3 months ago I boiled it for an hour. I’m not too sure if it’s well aged, It looks like it is to me. I got it from Buce plant.
  16. It’s a nano sponge filter I got from KGTropicals. Right now my tank has two sponge filters in it I left the old one in it and I have the new one I got from Aquarium Co-op in there as well.
  17. Monday I did a 70% water change. I’ve done three 50% water changes this week. I was second guessing my test strips as well so I tested some distilled water and it said 0 Nitrate and 0 Nitrite so I think they’re good. I got some different ones too and they test the same as the original ones I was using for my tank. Thank you for the advice
  18. I have a 11 month old cycled 3.5 gallon tank, almost 2 weeks ago (Nov 4) I re-scaped it and put live plants in it. I rinsed the new sand, and the live plants with the old aquarium water. I didn’t scrub or clean the glass, the heater, the sponge filter, or the small rock cave. All of which have been in the aquarium since I started it in the beginning of January. I put root tabs in on Nov 10th, I tested the water on Saturday (Nov 11) and the Nitrite was at 10.0 PPM. Right now the ammonia is at 0 PPM, Nitrate 20 PPM, Nitrite 5.0 PPM, GH 25 PPM, KH is in between 40 and 80 PPM, PH is in between 6.8 and 7.2 PPM. I’ve been doing water changes to try to get it down… I removed my betta fish (Angie) from the tank for the first part of the week but, I put her back in yesterday (I don’t have another tank so she was in a medium-large Tupperware container) (she wasn’t happy with that and neither was I) Strange enough she seems to be perfectly fine in there despite all the Nitrite… she’s eating great not breathing heavy at all and swimming around like she always does, seems happy. This is my first aquarium ever, And everything was perfect before I re-scaped it.. did I do something wrong? How do I fix the Nitrite?
