  1. Gotcha, thanks. Just makes me nervous about two 4/5" goldfish in a 30g xD way too small. I was nervous waiting the 4 days to do my 25% water changes but the quarantine tank has a canister filter that's partially cycled so it turned out okay. Thanks for the help and I'll just be checking them like I have been multiple times a day. Thankfully neither of them have lost appetite or been lethargic through this. Makes me confused about why they were susceptible when they otherwise were acting healthy, water parameters have been stable for over a year and no other fish were effected. They are the two largest in that tank but nothing has changed in there for over 2 months. Seems strange to me.
  2. There is salt in that tank to that concentration and cavatappa in there, when I do water changes I type water out in 5g buckets rather than my usual just hose so I can redose the salt for the water I've removed accurately. I've been writing on the glass where I'm at with meds so I'll write in the extra quarantine of 2 weeks and hopefully they improve a lot more. I don't know how that hole is going to heal...is it going to be indented or a pit with scar tissue? I've been trying to look up references pictures of what I should be expecting but I can't find any.
  3. After doing 3 full rounds of kanaplex and fizzing tabs, it looks like the infection my fish were experiencing hadn't progressed any further and the less infected fish is starting to recover some scales. Thankfully my 150g tank has not showed any signs of the disease and I have been dosing it with Sabbactisun as a potential preventative. My question now is what to do with the large open hole in my goldfish? Shes doing well, eating and slowly healing, but I feel like I should keep her separated from the test until she's more visually healed. Will a wound like this ever close up again? I don't know what I should expect moving forward and I want to give her the best chance to get better as Muffin is my darling angel and the only goldfish I bought online as I just couldn't say no to her cute face. The other goldy in the hospital tank is doing MUCH better and seems to be even getting some color back on the previously infected spot with no redness to the wound any more. I feel like I should put him back into the main tank, but since muffin is used to friends, I worry that she will get lonely as she continues to recover, but if continuing treatment would not be good for the other fish I don't want to have him do poorly because muffin wants a friend. Also thank you so much to the people that responded before to my other post. I have dealt with other diseases before and done well but this one was new and progressed so quickly and aggressively that I panicked and felt like there wasn't time to do research because treatment was needed immediately to give the best chance of survival. Yall really helped me and my little guys out.
  4. I am going to watch it like a hawk. I plan on medicating the whole 150g if I have to with a more intense med... I only have 2 smaller spare tanks for treatment (29g and 10g) hopefully now that I am aware of it I can try and pretreat the bigger tank with something less harsh to try and prevent some infections but time will tell.
  5. Gotcha. I'm gonna take both the main tank and quarantine down to 73 over time. I've ordered the other medications, gonna go add some more salt and cross my fingers.
  6. Oh wow, okay so raising the temp is actually a bad thing. I will slowly turn the heater down in the quarantine tank. It's at about 76/77 right now as that is what their usual tank is. What would be a good temp to try and keep it at to slow the bacteria? I have salt in there, but not at that concentration so I will add some more. I'm going to go the first round with the fin and body but I'll try and get those 2 medications you recommended before I start round two. Thank you so much. I've learned a lot in 3 years but haven't dealt with this one before and there are only so many ways you can type in a problem to Google while also trying to get good advice/care instructions.
  7. I have a 150g tank with 11 fancy goldfish of varying sizes, dojo loaches and some kubotai loaches. I had some plecos in the tank but one of them was an eye eater and has been removed. Now that I'm sure the eye eater has been removed I started seeing sores just behind the head along the back of 2 of my goldfish. This started 2 days ago and I had to get some things together for a quarantine tank but it went from "what is that" to "oh my God" way too quickly and put into a 29g tank with aquarium salt and fin & body cure as soon as I got home. Is this ulcers, just to confirm because I know that's very contagious and want to try and treat the whole tank if so, but quarantine the 2 that have it worst so they can recover in peace. Please let me know, I love these guys so much and Muffin, the Lavender oranda is my special little girl 8C No one else is showing any symptoms currently but I am going to be watching them like a hawk. Also in the pictures it looks like white spot, but those are just bubbles, just wanted to clarify.
  8. I think, looking at pictures snowball is probably correct. I'm still going to try and get some more good pictures of her and try planet catfish but looking at basic parameters and size, it fits perfectly. I think I originally over looked snowball because they said white polkadot but looking more in depth it also says white to light yellow. That and she is not picky at all about what she gets and isn't often eating algae.
  9. Thanks yall for answering! I was on a business trip so I wasn't able to reply the last few days. It's going to take a while to get a belly picture of her since she never hangs out on the glass. I might put some zucchini with a magnet on the glass and see if maybe that will get her to come over and hang out long enough to get a decent Pic. She does look like a bristlenose tho, that is totally true, and I remember asking when I got her how big since I don't want to buy a fish I don't have "forever" space for, and I think they said max if she got really big was 6" which is another reason why I was thinking probably not a gold nugget. She's in my 150g with the temp being around 75-77°F so definitely not 84. But all of this is super great information, I've certainly learned a few things and when I get more pictures I'll post to that other forum and see what I get! I'll make sure to update this when I get a positive ID!
  10. Hey yall. I got this pleco about 6 months ago and I am starting to second guess whether or not it's a gold nugget pleco since I keep finding conflicting images. In the pictures the dorsal and tail fin have bright yellow along with the yellow dots and obviously mine does not. Is that a requirement for the strain or is it just a color variance? Also she is about 3-4" long. I love her either way since she is very pretty and she just started coming to the front of the tank after living in the huge hollow log in my 150g for the first 6 months, but I would like to know so I can make sure I know what to expect. Thanks a bunch!
