48 year-old rookie
I purchased some ‘variety’ shrimp at a local box store this summer. First tank. Heavily planted 10 gallon and they have bred like crazy and having a blast watching them. I am setting up a 3 gallon with some for my wife’s kindergarten class. Can someone help identify what they are so we can tell the class? thank you all!

JettsPapa
They're neocaridina shrimp. There are a large number of colors and patterns that have been developed by selective breeding, and since all of the colors and patterns are of the same species they will readily breed with each other. When that happens it's anybody's guess what the offspring will look like, but after several generations they'll usually revert to brown, and often be at least partially translucent.
