Cjbear087 Posted yesterday at 03:04 PM Share Posted yesterday at 03:04 PM Is a normal (new) garden hose pipe safe for a fish tank? I’m gonna be using it with a bathroom tap (faucet) and not an outside one so I can get the water into my aquarium but wanted to make sure the pipe won’t leech anything or something like that. Instead, I went to amazon and ordered a food safe garden hose. It's held up really well and wasn't that much more expensive. Plus, the material was softer and easier to work with. I did buy a regular garden hose valve for the tank end, just so I wasn't draining water all over the place while moving the hose. But that was a brass fitting covered in plastic for feel. I didn’t know these existed so I’ll have a look. Thanks
face Posted yesterday at 03:56 PM Share Posted yesterday at 03:56 PM Yep ones for potable water are normal white or you can use vinyl tubing it’s normal clear I like vinyl because it’s easy to attach barbed fittings to it

Tony s
I think I used the flexzilla green hose. But that should work great. I also got 50 feet. I have to go all over my house 😁
jwcarlson
I have used "big box" hoses for aquarium stuff and never had an issue. The water is in contact with the hose for such a brief period of time I find it hard to believe it could cause an issue. That said, a "safe" one probably really doesn't cost that much more.
