memorywrangler
I set up a shell-dweller tank to cycle and, as an experiment, set the photo period very long. I ended up with a nice layer of algae over much of the hardscape and back wall. I actually think it looks really good, and for some reason (maybe the high pH and hardness?) I have no hair algae or black beard algae. However, I'd like to add some plants as well, but, of course, they just get covered with algae too. Is there any way to have lots of algae and nice-looking plants? My current plan is to plant something fast growing (e.g., sagittaria) and just trim the algae-covered leaves. But I imagine that'll be a hassle in the long run. Any other suggestions?
PonyPlantedTanks
Pothos hanging out the back would be nice. Anything really fast growing and floating would work well. Salvinia, Pennywort, Pearlweed, Water Sprite/Wisteria, etc would all do the job I would think!

But idk about how much algae that would get on there. I agree
reefhugger
Pogostemon Stellatus grows very quickly and doesn't seem to be affected by algae.
