Scaperoot
I know Cory has discussed the ongoing issue with Anubias rot, but I'm wondering if certain types of Anubias are more prone to rot than others. For my tanks, rotting is much more prevalent in Barteri than in Nana petite, for example. It's a large sample size of Barteri versus a small sample (4 pieces) of nana petite. Plants came from the same vendor. I've had the nana in a 5 gallon shallow tank for about 3 months. The Barteri (round or diamond) never seem to last more than 2-3 months. I've also lost Anubias, congensis, bonsai wavy, and butterfly.
Huckleberry
when my new anubias had the rot no (idea what kind) i squeezed and pinched off all the rotten rhizome. This seemed to work since that was 2 years ago. I havnt had an issue with it since. Don't know if it helped or not but I'd say half of them survived.
TeeJay
I myself have always had a hard time keeping barteri myself as well. All others do great for me. But all 3 times I have had barteri they wither away to nothing. Since all of my tanks are well seasoned now I decided to give them another try. Not saying that was the issue, just mentioned it as a side note. We shall see how this new one does in my shrimp sanctuary tank. It's only been a couple of weeks so not enough time yet to tell.
PotatoFish
I have had the same issue with barteri in the past. I have had a lot of success with anubias nana and nana petite. In the growing anubias garden in my larger tank, the anubias nana is growing to beastly proportions, but the barteri is VERY slowly plugging along.
