Floating plants ball up

I have some water sprite and it all clumps together in a big ball . I don't like it . I saw a post on another site for ideas . One was cutting the rim off a plastic container cover . Not bad . Any products out there to form a barrier to keep the sprite from balling up ?  Hangs down like a big green rain cloud in the middle of the tank .

I don't think anything will work for the water sprite . Tried a few things like airline tubing and the sprite is to heavy and floats under it . I have a lot of water agitation with air stone , sponge filter and my Fluval HOB filter . Unless I take some out , but that defeats the purpose a bit . Maybe some airline tubing suction cupped just around the filter return would stop it from folding under it's self . gonna try it .
