The higher you are as far as the output ramp, the less the skimmer will clog meaning nits quieter. In general with these, without anything stuck anywhere they are basically silent.

Hopefully yours is working better after the cleaning?

Sorry I just saw this. It worked good but I just need to make a plant divider for it so it won't suck up plants again. I sucked more up but I know how to clean it. I turned it off and am leaving it off until I get a divider.

To keep duckweed out of that top skimmer, you can take a rectangle of plastic needlepoint canvas, slit it at the bottom a centimeter or so on each side, and pop it in.  Easy and effective.

ok I will see how to do it. I am a little confused with what you mean about cutting the bottom. Thanks!

Like this, on each side of the bottom of the rectangle.  Gives you little "tabs" that will hold the screen in place at the bottom, after you tuck the vertical edges into the right and left outermost slits in the surface skimmer.

I forgot to say thanks!

@nabokovfan87 I am tired of messing with my filter. I want to silicon it. As long as it doesn't damage the filter. I don´t need the skimmer for a freshwater tank. So how do I silicon it?

This is my guide and method for how to do it.  I've been running it fully modded for about 6+ months.  Skimmer closed off is easy, just seems intimidating.  I also modded the intake so it actually goes through the intake tube itself.  If you do those mods I would recommend having an intake pre-filter sponge.

I used basically just silicone and QTips with the ends cut off (or toothpicks) to give mine a cleaner look.

There is a bunch of mods and stuff you said which # are these ones on the forum? Thanks! Also I am confused about the bypass of the filter and why you were cutting the bottom all up. Also you posted a update on may 30th about cutting another hole somewhere. I am also confused about that. Thanks!

The hole is on the intake here. The intake tube is partially obstructed, which is why it needed to be opened up to allow flow into the pump.

Essentially.

1.  Plug skimmer

OPTIONAL...
2. Plug middle input grate (that is the grille shown in the photo above, blue knob removed as well

3. Open up the intake tube on both ends (the hole above, and the base of the strainer itself)

4.  add a pre-filter sponge to the intake.

Hopefully that makes sense. If not, please feel free to quote / tag me on the other thread to break down something specific related to modding the tidal.

I am confused on one part but that makes sense. I will tag you on it on the other post.
