Evan
I’m running a Fluval 307 canister filter on a standard 55 gallon tank with the intake and outflow in the middle of the tank. I’m wondering if the forum members think this the best place or if it would be better to have them at the end of the tank. Thanks in advance! TheSwissAquarist
Each end would be great, like that your clean water doesn’t immediately get sucked back up again.
Evan
Do you mean have the outflow in the left corner and the intake in the right corner with the flow going left to right (or vice versa)? I would think to keep them in the same corner so the water goes in a full circle before getting back to the intake.
TheSwissAquarist
As long as there’s decent flow having them in the same corner’s fine.

Flumpweesel
My tank came pre plumbed for a 307 the intake (short) outlet (tall) are next to each other in the back right corner. Not sure if that info is any use I think if you have the in and out near each other make sure the out/return is higher than the in .
