Polar Aurora Canister Filter

Hey guys,

I just received the polar aurora 525GPH cannister filter that I purchased for a 125G fish tank that will house a 9 inch red ear slider turtle. I have seen some positive reviews online but I was wondering if anybody has encountered problems with these generic white cannister filters. If you have used one I would love to hear how it worked out for you!

Coincidentally, I am looking at a used tank setup that may come with one. I'd be curious to hear your overall impressions of the unit.

@wes.crockett I just got it hooked up to a tank today. It's a temporary set up while I get the 125-gallon tank ready. I am impressed at how quiet it is, but I wonder how it will perform long term. 

As far as structurally, I am very pleased. Everything seems sturdy on and in the cannister itself. I am not impressed with the clamping devises that secure the inlet and outlet tubing to the tank. They definitely won't even fit my 125-gallon tank. However, because I paid such a low price for the filter, I am not mad about coming up with my own solution for the inlet and outlet tubing.

I looked up the companies page on Amazon... 100% Would Not Trust long term... they make everything from wicker furniture, to dog grooming tables... lol

Company pages on Amazon are simply sellers. That doesn't necessarily mean they manufacture the product. I'm not really sure who makes these canister filters, but they have three or four different brand names on amazon, and they are all the same products.

It’s just a SunSun canister rebadged. They’re hit and miss. Some people have amazing experiences others not. $100 or less for a canister that Big it’s worth the risk.
