All Foam Filter

Hello everyone. I am thinking about running an all foam cannister filter. This should make cleaning it easier, add beneficial bacteria, and help polish the water. Has anyone else done this or have any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I have read of people doing  just that, YouTube vids as well. There is no reason it wouldn't work. Use different pore sizes and it should be a most excellent filter system.

Yes it has been done!  Which filter are you planning to use?

Generally when I do my "lots of foam" filtration I run 2x coarse sponges (with the dimples preferred for this use), 1-2x of the medium sponges based on load, 1x fine foam.  If the fine gets all clogged you lose too much flow, so I prefer to stack multiples of the other foams in question.

Foams are all I use in my FX4's and FX6's.   Coarse on the outside rings and then all mediums up the center.  No fine pads at all as they will clog too fast.  I literally clean these every 6 months.  I clean or replace the coarse pads and just rinse the medium density pads in tank water.  Works great.
