acropora
Good morning! Does anyone here have experience with nannostomus mortenthaleri aka coral red pencil fish, red arc pencil fish? I’m dedicating a black water aquarium just for this species - the tank is in the cycling process, however, I’ll be asking my LFS if they can give me some of their mature biomedia. I’m not entirely new to the freshwater hobby, I got out of it 5 years ago. But anyway, if anybody has experience w this species please chime in 🙂
Barbvday
I love these guys! I keep them in a 75 gallon tank and they hang out mostly on the top section of the tank. I do have some floating plants as well as a huge Anubias that has big leaves close to the surface. They do school from time to time as well. I keep temp at 82° PH around 7.4 and I do water changes at least once a week but usually more often. They’re in there with rainbow cichlids so there’s pretty much always babies in there and get fed with live brine shrimp regularly. The pencilfish now eat just about everything but they have tiny mouths so many pellets don’t work.
